What is a Wiki?

Introduction

As new online tools are introduced, we often face the question "what is a X and how do I use it?" I find I get that a lot with wikis. So this FAQ is a basic overview of the technical aspects of wikis. We are also creating a separate page on wiki practices for using wikis in international development.
