This is the wiki page for the Social bookmarking: npk4dev@del.icio.us project.

1. What is social bookmarking? “Social bookmarking is the practice of saving bookmarks to a public Web site and “tagging” them with keywords. (…) To create a collection of social bookmarks, you register with a social bookmarking site, which lets you store bookmarks and add tags of your choice. 2. The history of tagging npk4dev Several people started bookmarking online resources related to knowledge management for development. To make each other aware of possibly valuable resources and to collectively build a public, searchable set of these resources, a few members of the KM4DEV community started a small initiative. They are bookmarking the resources they want to collect and share via del.icio.us, tagging the items ‘npk4dev’. When you subscribe to the npk4dev tag (link / rss), you can monitor everyone’s contributions. By capturing the RSS feed in Suprglu (link / rss) a list of searchable resources is built. 3. How to join? You can join this initiative and help us collect and share your online bookmarks! Please read some guidelines on how to contribute in the following paragraph. You can also decide not to tag, but to make use of the online bookmarks to stay up-to-date with interesting resources.

4. Getting started for taggers How to start bookmarking? Open an account at http://del.icio.us and tag relevant bookmarks with npk4dev. 5. Getting started for tag users How to keep track of new entries tagged with npk4dev?  Subscribe to the npk4dev tag via your del.icio.us inbox, by going to ‘settings’ (top right of page) and then click ‘subscriptions’. Fill in npk4dev in the tag field. New bookmarks tagged npk4dev will appear in your ‘inbox’ (top of page).  Or subscribe to del.icio.us (link / rss) via an RSS reader such as Bloglines (link) or via email (link). 5. What and how to tag? Some guidelines for npk4dev taggers Tag npk4dev • Use the tag ‘npk4dev’ to mark online resources related to knowledge management in the context of sustainable (international) development. This could be case studies, success stories, toolkits, events, but also examples of communication tools that provide opportunities for online knowledge sharing. Below are a few examples of resources we have tagged. Use other tags • Besides the npk4dev tag, attach tags describing the content of the resource. Consider using tags for topic (e.g. blogging, monitoring, radio) country/region (e.g. asia, south_africa), language (e.g. dutch, spanish) and type of resource (e.g. blog, wiki, event, freeware, publication). • In the case of tags that consist of multiple words, we recommend you use the underscore_ to connect the separate words, like knowledge_sharing or action_research. • We collected a set of tags you could use as a starting point. Take a look at [8]. Describe your resource • Try to add a short narrative description of the resource in the ‘description’ field. Here are some examples that show how you can tag and describe your npk4dev bookmarks. it does not seem to be possible to insert an actual rss feed here to show the latest npk4dev content - perhaps we need to modify our blog page so it has the basic info, and some feeds.
